Cat Downers?

My favorite cat that traveled so well in his crate disappeared and I rescued a cat at the shelter = less than one year old but not really a kitten. She hates the crate and howls

I have seen some of you stating you give your dogs "doggie downers" from the vet. When I ask my vet for something similar you would think I was a animal abuser from his response and I did not get anything.

Any ideas for cats. DH is not a cat lover but is tolerable to them but if he howls on our next trip, its not going to be happy camping. we wont be hauling the rv so that is not a option

Oh I also travel with a bird......

thanks

  • Sometimes Feliway spray will help calm an anxious cat. Or you can see if ALOT of catnip will calm him down.
  • Easy, don't use the crate. ;) My two cats each have a favorite place to sleep while we travel.
  • We use Rescue remedy for our dogs and it works well. Maybe they have a cat version?
  • I've got a cat bed, along with a big basket for another cat, on the dashboard of the moho. They like to get up there and sleep or watch the traffic as we're driving down the road. In your case, I see that you have a 5er. Could you leave the cat in there instead? She'd have her bed, cat food/water and litter box.

    Just a thought.
