My wife left some chicken out for a couple of feral cats (10? years ago) and
they never left. One disappeared, the other was a female and gave birth to
2 kittens. The mother allowed me to handle her and her kittens - so they got
used to human contact/presence. When winter came, they found out very quickly
that the inside of our house was warmer then the outside.... and there was
free food.
One of the cats sleeps on my chest while I watch TV and the mother lays next
to me and lays on the garage floor while I work on my car/motorcycle. I was
never a cat person but that all changed now.
Our local county animal shelter neuters cats for $45, so we had all of them
neutered.
