This is actually a myth. There are several other species who “thrill kill” over and above what is needed for food. Just to name a few:
Bottlenose Dolphins
Fox
Leopard
Hyena
Gorilla
Lion
Chimps
Stoats
Honey Badgers
Elephants
Wolves
Dogs
The only one on the list that I’ve personally witnessed is dogs. I have to take the word of scientists on the rest.
