Cooper has been on low dose prednisone for his auto immune disease along with pentoxifyline. With a weakened immune system this makes him more susceptible.
Sorry to here things aren't going well. It's possible that he isn't feeling well due to the combination of meds. Prednisone is a tough med.
I will find out from my vet tomorrow what the results of his biopsy.
On a side note I went to the grocery store yesterday and there was a faith based women crisis center selling faith based items. I purchased a plaque with the Serenity Prayer inscribed. - CroweExplorerSorry to here things aren't going well. It's possible that he isn't feeling well due to the combination of meds. - colliehaulerExplorer IIICooper is going downhill very fast. I have not received the results back from K-State yet but I'm sure the vet was correct in his original diagnosis of cancer. Today you can tell he doesn't feel well despite being on pain medication antibiotics and prednisone. His face is very swollen on that side as well. He wants to find out of the way places to lay down.
- Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IIGood news (sort of - prayers that the antibiotics do the job quickly) and a cute story about Cooper :-) My experience has been that I don't like dogs very much until they're 2 and become "sensible" - but around 4 or 5, they become "magical". They seem to develop their personality and express it so wonderfully by then. Cooper sounds like a very sweet dog!

Thanks, It's been a rough 3 years I've lost 3 Collies. Bud-brain tumor at 10years, Lassie-stroke at 16 years, Mikko-back legs vet thought spinal degeneration at 14 years. Then add in I broke my ankle and had to have a plate and 8 screws put in then gallbladder surgery this year.
Prayers that the tests show benign and you are spared a back-to-back heartbreak....
I appreciate all prayers for Cooper, thanks everybody.
One little story about Cooper. When Mikko could barely walk let alone play his favorite game, fetch the Nerf football Cooper would go get the ball and drop it by Mikko's feet so he could bring it the last ten feet or so back to me. If Mikko was not present he would bring the ball directly back to me. If that's not the definition of empathy I don't know what is. - colliehaulerExplorer IIIThe vet took out three teeth yesterday back three upper. The vet said the teeth just slid out with roots intact. We have been fighting a sinus infection for the last couple of weeks and could not figure out what was going on. He had his teeth cleaned at the end of February and they looked good. He has massive bone loss and we were not sure if it was the autoimmune disease or Cancer. He is on pain medication and antibiotics. Cooper is only 4 years old, I adopted him about 2 years ago.
