Crossing state lines laws

Hi everyone. My name Is Debi and I am very new to RVing. Only one short trip so far. I am having one heck of a hard time finding info on what the state laws are about bringing 2 parrots, 2 dogs and 1 marmoset monkey across state lines. There is no web site to go to and I have tried calling state offices but not even they are up to date on the laws covering their own states. I don't really need advice on traveling with my little gang as they are used to traveling up to 11 hours at a time in a van for years but I'd like to keep them all legal while traveling into different states. Anyone out there run into this same situation? I could use your advice. Thank for your time.

  • Colored in States have no restrictions.....total of 11

Pretty much limits 'legal' traveling with that 'nonhuman primate'
Course that means you can only travel to/between 5 States (Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Ohio & Wisconsin) cause they are the only ones that touch.

You can ADD 3 more States if you have proper permit:
Which only adds Michigan, Oklahoma & South Dakota to the 5 that touch, plus North Dakota, Ohio, West Virgina and Virgina (12 total)

  • Welcome to the forum.
This is one of the most interesting questions I've seen on the forum.
    Traveling with a monkey. :C
    Enjoy your travels.

Good Links, especially monkeypro.com, lays it out clearly by state.

I find it funny that Florida has restrictions, we have large colonies of monkeys living in the wild.
It seems that a week doesn't go by with out a newspaper/TV article about a monkey in someone's neighborhood. :)

  • I would imagine that if you have all the appropriate health records for your menagerie there should be no problem.

I've never been questioned about my dog in all my Interstate travels.
I can't imagine why you would be questioned by authorities, well maybe for the monkey, an unusual travel companion. :)

In all the miles you've traveled with them, have you ever been questioned, except by people curious about them?
