Gosh, sounds similar to a tooth infection I had. On the surface all was fine, but the PAIN was horrid. I couldn't chew and cold temps such as when I breathed in winter were excruciating. Dental x-ray showed an extensive infection around the roots. Had to wait two months for a dental surgeon to visit Whitehorse to remove the teeth, one was a wisdom tooth that every dentist had feared pulling because of its position, they said it could cause nerve damage to my face. The dental surgeon had the two teeth out in about 5 minutes - likely the bone loss made it easier - pulling a tooth out of a hole can't be too difficult!
Amazing difference in my health after that, brain fog went away and even my dizzy spells went away - likely caused by the infection. It took about a week to recover then a bit of nursing while the gums continued to heal and before the stitches came out.
