One thing worth mentioning if you have never had a bottle fed kitten. They are extremely affectionate (because they see humans as their mamas), but they don't learn the basic rules of self-preservation such as distrust of people, dogs, etc. If they get out of the house unsupervised, they could easily follow another person home or approach an unknown dog.
They also tend not to learn the rules needed to get along - like don't bite hard and what is appropriate play. You really do have to substitute for mama taking a hard line and saying "knock it off, kid."
Sometimes the timing just plays out right, like it's meant to be.
