The thing about cats is, they are all different and you pretty much can't train them like you can a pup. My Edna was never a lap cat, inspite of the fact we got her very young and I would have loved her to be. However, she was happy to cuddle up with me when I took a nap and I appreciated that. She was a talker and we often had involved conversations. She was also MY cat. Some of them pick "their" person while some (fewer, I think) love everybody. It will be interesting to see how Rowdy evolves.
