I had all three of my chihuahuas insured...at times I found it frustrating when the ins co didnt cover the amount the DVM charged, made exclusions, increased my deductibles etc but when Bella was very ill and her bill was massive, the amount they did pay was helpful. We had a unique situation with Izzy...she had her first cardiac arrests with one insurance co who then sold out to another ins co...Izzy had to wait for her pacemaker surgery for some weeks to allow for healing as she had an enucleation, plus required chest compressions to restart her heart with the second arrest as drugs alone didnt do it...so she was a mess...anyway when she had the second surgery it was under the new owners and I prepared myself for a fight as to whom would pay for what...and to my surprise..no fight needed...sent my bills in, they requested a letter from both the ophthalmologist and the cardiologist and then paid me the correct percentage. So I have mixed feelings about ins...but now live in country where there is no such thing so no more wondering about should I or shouldnt I LOL
