Does Anyone Travel with a Retired Greyhound?

That was what we did with three large dogs because many parks only allowed two. We were never turned away, and in fact, one campground approved because we had the "Courtesy" to call.

We had the Greyhounds when we retired, along with a 100 pound Belgian Malanois, three adult humans, all in our 27 foot TT. We decided too cut down the numbers and the sizes though attrition.

As the larger dogs passed away, we "downsized." Given the room, I would own at least two more Greyhounds. To me, they are the finest companion dogs one could possibly ask for.

For now, a Chihuahua mix fulfills our need for dogs. 12 pounds of dog, 100 pounds of attitude. This dog knows not the word "fear."

I love the saying "If you can see the floor......" But it would not work in our house. The Greys were "dogs of comfort" and would not even consider laying on the floor. They much preferred a couch or our bed!

Meet Princess Poops A Lot (aka Millie). She is the sweetest, most low maintenance animal we have ever encountered. We can and do take her any/everywhere. Millie gets along with all other animals, large or small though some Grey's do not do well with small dogs or cats.

She probably understands more about retirement than anyone in Arizona. She doesn't play, bark or chew things but is very fond of the belly rub (as in never stop). A couple of short walks a day and it's time for one of her endless stream of naps.

We have never encountered any restrictions, she weighs 70#. :C

She is beautiful!, My son's racer's favorite activity is also 'nap'. He didn't know any of the basic commands when they got him but now he's learned sit and the ones he's best at - Down and Stay lol. He learns a lot from his new sister Lexie, an Australian cattle dog

We have traveled with a Great Dane, English Mastiff, and a Pit Bull. All together, they weighed in at 360 lbs. No trouble. I always call ahead to private parks to tell them we have big dogs. I never lie about them and if I reserve in enough time, they frequently give me a more 'secluded' spot.

We used to but they use so much gas...

LGDs are quite surpising; they look like they would be slow because of their size and since they spend most of their time laying around; but when one decides to give chase they can cover whole lot of ground quickly.

We've gone out in our fields and Sam (Maremma Sheepdog) was not visible only to turn around to find him standing behind us panting.
