The best thing I can tell you, is if you previously had a breed that you really liked and fit your lifestyle, go with what you know. I am a cocker spaniel person. 20+ yrs ago my husband thought he needed a dachshund. The characteristics of that breed were not my cup of tea. I'm not the type of person to get rid of a dog, so we made the best of it and kept her. After she had passed on, I told him we're sticking with cockers. I have nothing against other breeds of dogs, but if you know what works, why deal with surprises that may not be compatible with your expectations.
