This morning he was looking out the rear door so I opened it for him. He took off in hot pursuit of either a rabbit or a deer, probably a deer. I couldn't see at the edge of the woods with bright sunlight clearly. Later son went out of garage and said he hear snorts in the edge of the woods. Deer waiting until it was clear to come graze or whatever. Snort probably meant one gave the alarm and the all hitailed it up the hill.
Tail still hangs a little limp but he seems to be him old self.
