We have an ex-pen for our cockers. I put a small patio mat down, set up the ex-pen and they each have one of the K&H folding cots.
I like to put the mat down first - keeps the dogs cleaner.
We have a small canopy to put up to shade them, but you can do the same thing with a tarp on sunny days.
