Dog with UTI

We left our dogs home from camping this past weekend, returned to Daisy needing out a lot. So on went the rubber gloves and I followed her outside with a plastic lid and got an urine sample. This will be her 3rd one in a year, so she doesn't get them often, but enough. Has anyone else had this problem and any thing should I try different to prevent them?

I will just add that my older dog kept getting what was diagnosed with UTI's. And he was having serious problems with the different types of antibiotics they were throwing at him to stop the infection. I finally insisted/requested that a culture be sent out.

It turned out he had a 'kidney' infection not a UTI. AND all those new antibiotics with numerous side effects they were throwing at him?

Turned out he went thru all the discomfort for naught. The culture came back with Omyxicillan being the antibiotic to use! :S

Request a culture. They don't cost that much and can actually save you money on antibiotics purchased that don't work and they can tell everything you need to know instead of stabbing in the dark what to use. Just saying I find it a very useful test that IMHO is not requested enough by some vets.
