dogs and wild life.

This happened while we were home last May. This fawn was desperately looking for mama, so she was willing to settle for any friendly creature. Quincy was willing to be a stand in.

  • Quincy looks a tad annoyed by the little thing that was clearly hoping for some "dinner"....LOL! I think the Conservation folks blew that call - to me, if a fawn will walk up to another species (especially a "predator") for food/protection, it's desperate.... not simply "waiting for Mama to come back"?
  • So sad, they died. You never know though if mama is close by or will return. Yes, something definitely happened to her. It would've been very hard not to feed them.

    Cute! Did Mama ever appear?

sadly, no. We called the conservation people the second day because now we had 2 fawns hanging around and following Quincy and our Anatolian Shepard around the farm. The mama never never came and got them.
Conservation people told us that this is normal and mama will come get them.
We found each of the babies several days after they quit showing up around the yard. each one was hiding in the grass about 50ft away from each other and about 100 ft from our buildings. They apparently starved to death. We were told not to try and feed them. We wanted to bottle them.
Obviously something happened to mama. Poachers, road accident, or?
    It is sad.
  • Shining example of those banned, evil, aggressive Dobermans :B

    Thanks for the share.
