We also found out that the "pet hospitals" really charge high rates for any emergency visits. After my only visit at one with granddog after being hit by a truck I decided I would not go back to one again unless it was a matter of life and death. I will call the vet and pay for emergency service by my vet first, it is much cheaper. Only way I would go to one again is if I need a vet within the next 10 minutes to save a life, if I have longer, I'll go to the vet's office after making the emergency call.
