Our little dog was very anxious to begin with also. She was a rescue and was absolutely crazy happy to be with us from the start. The first two or three times trying to get her to ride in the truck was terrifying for her. I think she thought we might abandon her somewhere, when we would stop somewhere along the trip she would refuse to get out of the truck. Now she begs to come along every time we start somewhere. A complete turn around.

Our little dog does not have a problem with motion sickness, however DW does sometimes on curvy roads. It really helps her to ride in the front seat so that she can see straight ahead clearly. Just thinking that might help with your little dog if you have some way for her to ride up front with you. R

Last summer was Cooper's first time at the lake. Cooper never got into the water but did seem to love sitting on the bow of the boat while underway.

I had taken in a rescue akita once. He spent the first 3 years of his life in a cement kennel in a back yard. Never saw anything. Took my shepherd/lab and him (he affectionately became known as her pet dog) to the river and he fell in love with wading. Every trip, he would go put his big hot paws in the water and take a stroll.

One day, we went to a local park for a walk. There was a duck pond for fishing. Well, Bear-dog saw that water and made a streak for it. He waded right in and....

Oops. Head completely under, we came back up with a look of complete horror on his face. I'm pulling and pulling on the leash to get him out. People are staring in dusgust.

The "duck pond" had been converted from the old community swimming pool. Poor Bear-dog didn't realize that meant there was no gradual change from dry land to deep water.

Then there was the time he realized the pet store santa was an actual person in a costume and not a really big stuffed toy...

This reminds me of a Golden Retriever that we use to babysit....we happened to be sitting her at a time when we were going to Mammoth Lakes. She was an older Gal and had never been to or in the water so even though at the time we had 4 of our own kid's(doggies) we gladly took her along to fulfill a must have "bucket list "item! She loved wading into the water, our kid's, not so much. I guess Cavalier's aren't as thrilled of water as the retriever was. :-)

Cuties for sure. my little yorkie Gracie loves to go in the MoHo. When we start getting ready to leave , she stays right with me, every step I take, she is behind me.

Give the one some time and see may likely overcome her car sickness.

Glad they got to see a lake. Now they need to see all those wild critters! Bat-dog and Moose-dog say raccoons are really weird looking, lizards are great to hunt, and coyotes are best seen from a distance (especially if you are snack size).
