I suspect longevity comes from selecting and breeding for success in a highly physical function and keeping them lean and fit (physically and mentally).
Genetics first then fitness and food.
There are very few breeds/types of dogs that are still primarily bred for a function; racing greyhounds and sled dogs are two that come to my mind. Racing Greyhounds (if they don't get cancer) live to 12-14 years. Sled dogs (are mixes bred for mushing) also have a lifespan of 12-15 years if they don't get injured.
