My experience has been that a hungry dog is a dog that will eat his or her food.
That said, I do not like to feed food my dogs don't really like. I cooked chicken for months because Zig and Tink would not eat the raw. Eventually after seeing the other dogs eat it, they started stealing it and now both are eating the raw.
But at the same time, my dogs are always good and hungry at mealtimes. I watch them like the proverbial hawk, and if I see them looking a little hefty, I cut back. So they're just getting what they need every day. Overfeeding is a very common cause of pickiness in my opinion.
How is Calvin's weight?
Since Harlee, he just likes what he likes I guess! After all the trial and errors (folks at the Pet Shop and Vets thought I was nuts. But was real nice, letting me buy a few cans, returning / exchanging them for another brand / formula ... lol), when I found he really liked the Royal Canin Venison and Potato. I was elated, because from that time to present, he cant't wait to eat. Absolutely NO problems at all. In addition (along with his 1/2 hour before he eats medication), we got his throwing up thing from once every two or so weeks, down to once every three, four months.
In regards to his weight, he picked up about 8 pounds or so since the project in Adelanto. So I pulled back from a full can to three quarter can. Now that we're back working. We start our day with an approx 4 mile walk, so he's starting to lean out some.
The Boy's gonna see Dr. Hehn tomorrow morning for his blood work check up, so I'll see how his weight's coming along.
He is showing his age a bit though (aside from his graying), cause when we're done. While I cool off in the Eagle (in lieu of cooling off out in the cold / brisk nigh air). He lays down on his bed, or wherever he wants to. When I head back out, he usually follows (still does) but at times he'll look at me, as if to say, "I'll see you when I see you. But don't forget, snack times coming up soon so don't be too long OK". ... :S

Oh, on top of this food fiasco, .... (don't wanna jinx this) but there is a possibility that we'll be heading out again. Could be a year, or close to a year this time. If we do, we're gonna be gone long enough that I'm gonna have to find a Vet!
Never ENDS!
