I'd go slowly and watch Calvin carefully when you get to the new formula dog food with the added soy protein. Some of us (humans and critters) don't do great with the soy that seems to be in almost every processed food we buy these days.
Thanks Judy, but no dietary changes. I keeping Calvin on the Royal Canin L.I. Venison and Potato. As mentioned earlier, I'll keep a minimum of two months of his Venison and Potato on hand at all times. When I get down to four and a half cases, I'll place an order for two cases. Date the cases in order to keep track on the rotation.
There are enough stores, both physical locations as well as online suppliers that I shouldn't have a problem with this order regimen.
However, should there come a time, Heaven Forbid, that there is a supply problem with the Royal Canin. Dr. Hehn would like to keep him on a Limited Ingredient Venison and Potato. If that happens, I'll start looking toward other brands, e.g. Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance L.I. Venison and Sweet Potato, and or the other Venison and Potato formulas suggested in this thread.
Should that time arises (thanks for the heads up Judy ...
