I tried a pill syringe a couple of times, and I didn't like it because I couldn't tell how far down the dog's throat it was. I went back to stuffing a pill in a piece of hot dog. If you warm the hot dog or "decoy" whatever in the microwave for a second, it helps. Also having a second treat in view tends to make them swallow the first piece quickly to get the second piece. Most dogs will sell their souls for a piece of hot dog....LOL!
It also helps if you have a second pet - my dogs tend to bolt treats simply so the other dog doesn't get it. If you have one pet, that obviously doesn't work....
