The best thing I've found is that I get deli ham, sliced as thin as they can slice it. I guess shaved is the word.
I wrap the pills with a small piece of the ham, wrapping both ways, so the pills can't slide out. I make the "treat" as small as I can. When I give the pill loaded ham, I have another piece of ham in my hand to offer immediately. That encourages him to swallow it faster, to get the next piece.
You have to get the ham shaved as thin as they can. If the meat is sliced normally, it will unwrap from the pill. I get a pound at a time.
I take a freezer bag, and freeze part of the meat with parchment paper in between every couple of slices. That way I can thaw a few pieces at a time. I don't like lunchmeat laying around for very long. I think it goes bad pretty quick.
You could use any deli meat you like -- chicken, turkey, ham....
