My little poodle fought taking meds as well, but if I dropped anything on the floor while fixing meals, she was on it and had it down before I could turn. Took a bit of baby food, rolled it around the pill(had to keep it out of her sight while doing this) dropped it on the floor and she was on it like a duck on a junebug. That might help you get it in your pup. Poodles are highly intelligent, so vary the "coating". I used to coat it in peanut butter and put it in her dish, but she'd just eat the peanut butter and there the pill would be! It works best if the pup thought it was my mistake, dropped a bit of food, so scarf it down as quick as possible. Doesn't hurt to praise her for "catching" that bit you dropped, pet and praise. Hopefully you won't drop something she shouldn't have caught, but sometimes you have to choose your priorities, health being top of the list. I once cut half a bologna sandwich in fourths, placed crushed pill in mayo on one fourth, and after taking my bit off the plate, turned my back and my poodle snatched her bit (lol) and ate it pill and all. I feel devious, but heck, beats having to keep pushing that pill down her throat.
