Downtheavenue - I totally disagree with you. Don't mind driving the 100/200 miles - just not willing when the organization/rescue tells us don't have what we are looking for but "come look at what they have." When I have a phone # to call I tell them what we'll work in our household and what we saw online and I am told come look at we have. I understand pets get adopted in their care every day but can't understand if approved for adoption and see one that appears will fit for the family why can't go see it as soon as approved to see if it is a good fit. That is my problem. That is exactly what we did the last time.
We don't mind going 100/200 miles AWAY if we know the one we saw will be put on hold for 24 hrs for us to see and see if she/he likes us. But for us to run around everyday 100/200 miles for a rescue pet that is not what we applied for and just "come and see what we have" is crazy. Are you saying you would do this day after day? Doubt it!!1
