I searched the veterinary literature and found only obscure references to general pharmacology and effects in rats, nothing in dogs and cats.
I'm not familiar with this product and have never heard of a problem related to its use.
As far as solvent being a problem, it depends on what solvent and how its used. The most common solvent in nature is water, certainly not a problem.
I'd be interested in any studies showing problems in humans, dogs or cats. Evidently this is a common ingredient in vegetarian foods as well as many others.
