We haven't done necropsies; we don't have the knowledge to perform a necropsy, the cost of a farm call is too high, and I don't know if there still is a state/county vet in our county to take a corpse to for a necropsy.
Typically we don't fault the ewe for the death of an older lamb if the ewe has milk and didn't abandon her lamb. In the case of this tiny twin it is likely the lamb was not quite right to survive unless everything was perfect. In which case we wouldn't want the genes of this weaker animal in our flock.
