Jake pooped in the pet store tonight! :(

We've had to give Jesse regular baths with medicated shampoo for his skin issues. The local pet store, part of a small chain called Pet's Supplies Plus, has a doggie wash so we've been going there. Even though only Jesse needed a bath, we took both, and I walked around the store for a bit while we waited. Then HE DID IT! He POOPED in the store! That has NEVER happened inside ANYWHERE. He was crying in the back of the truck on the way over and I guess I just didn't understand what he was trying to tell me. I was SO embarrassed but the staff just cleaned it up and said no worries. They had been out for a while before we went, but I guess he didn't just have to go then!

  • Agree with the others--don't be embarrassed about it. Stores that allow dogs in are used to it. As someone said--the doggy smells are all over the store; dogs figure it's okay.
  • Nothing to be embarrassed about for you or James. As said already these stores expect this to happen. Now I would suggest one not take their pet in if your pet is having a bout of the scooter or scours (farm girl). You are worried about nothing.
  • When my dog did that at a pet supply store, I was horribly embarassed. The staff told me that even though they clean the floor, the dog can smell that another dog has done their business there and it is a good place to go. That store has "supply stations" at the end of several aisles, so you are rarely very far from one.
  • I pooped in our local feed/grain store......

Staff let me use their restroom so it was OK :B
  • Ya gotta go, ya gotta go! Any store that welcomes pets inside certainly expects the occasional accident. I wouldn't give it another thought.
