Kathleen, is Wayne still up North?

Kathleen, I hope all is well. Another round of freezing temps!

  • Zaris was without anesthesia as she just required a light cleaning and was co-operative...with anesthesia it is $ 35-45 ( including nail trim and kiss for momma )
we live in a very small community...there isnt any real employment to speak of...mostly the mill which is approx 30 miles away..the mines which are 1.5- 2 hours drive away...we have had some renewed interest in the house so hopefully it will sell soon...dont like being in a foreign country without my mate LOL

I found a dog the other day with what looked to be a fractured back leg...it was dangling at a strange angle and she could barely walk...was unable to find the owner...called Dr Franklin and he came right away from the next town...the poor dog had a dislocated hip and knee with torn ligament/tendons..turned out it had been hit by a car 4 days previous and the owner did not get any medical help for the dog..we had found him and he refused to have any surgical repair done..I said I would pay the $300 for the surgery but Dr Franklin said at this point the dog would never get the use of the leg back so pain management and rest would be the best thing right now...the owner refused to pay for the meds...so I went with Dr Franklin back to his office, got the meds...paid for the house call/meds and grabbed a taxi and took the meds to the owner..so sad... Dr Franklin said to me..you know, the owner does not care about the dog... its lucky I dont speak Spanish because I would have given that guy a tongue lashing he would never forget...

Dr Frnaklin and his assistant trying to get the hip to pop into place...the knee did

  • KKathleen, was Zari's dental with or without anesthesia? Either way, that is an amazing price. It's awful that you have to be separated from Wayne for so long. Real Estate is starting to pick up in the States, so maybe it will in Ca, too? Sure hope so. Is it the cold weather holding down the market at this time?
  • Believe me, coming from Canada, I almost gasp every time he gives the cost ...the Revolution alone would have cost way more than that !
  • I'm sorry you all are having to be separated, but I have to say that I'm green with envy over those vet costs!!
  • we live in a very small town in northern Ontario...no such companies close by...we did talk to a company in the next city which is over an hour away and they wanted a lot of money as they would have to do lots of traveling and with our winters, they may not be even able to get there sometimes...a neighbour offered but its too much responsibility to ask someone to take on...and he just bought a RV so will be on the road himself off and on...the real estate broker will not take on looking after the house do to the harsh winter and what damage Mother Nature might do or intruders...
  • Thanks for the update. I'm so surprised how nice the veterinary care is there-and so reasonably priced!
Couldn't you hire a real estate, or property management company to look after the house?
  • yes...he still is in Canada and dealing with lots of snow and cold...the wees and I miss him very much, I never thought this would be how things would turn out...but trying to stay positive ...on a cheerier note...Zari went to the vet yesterday..had a dental done, her nails cut and got a 3 month supply of Revolution all for $41...
