LA family leaves dog at shelter... because

A LA California family left a German Shepherd at the shelter when the dog became depressed over the death of another pet. They said they wanted another dog. The German Shepherd was named Zuzu, after the little girl in It's a Wonderful Life.

Inside Addition had a video but did not show the family faces.

  • At least they didn't just put the dog out by the roadside to be hit by a car. Or dropped off in the wilderness to be eaten by a predator. I agree these people shouldn't have another pet; at least the dog is safe though.
  • Typical spoiled brats. Always need someone else to do their dirty work, cause they are too spoiled and self-centered to to what is needed themselves. Just dump it on someone else to do. We have had dogs as pets and show dogs for many years, and have had to put several loved house pets down, two in the last three years. Its not easy, but better than just dumping them out.
  • sick and disgusting people. Just one more stupid@ss result of the "they're just animals" attitude.

I have taken in pets under the stupidest reasons:

    1. two absolutely gorgeous kittens born to a pure-bred siamese mother - the owner didn't want any sign of a "mistake" pregnancy and was going to dump the kittens. They were truly gorgeous - solid soft velvety "Russian Blue" grey coat and blue eyes. And sweethearts too.

    2. chow, pit, rottie, dobie mix puppy that was going to "be raised mean so it will protect us" (meaning they were going to beat it daily). They didn't actually give it up - but one morning when they let it roam the neighborhood, it just up and disappeared. Don't know where it went, I was busy taking my largish cat to the vet in a large carrier....

    3. co-worker tried to get me to take her 13 year old cat to the pound because the girl was pregnant and didn't want the cat stealing the baby's breath. I reamed her out for 20 minutes and then told her that there was no way I was doing her dirty work for her - she would have to take the cat to the pound herself. She ended up giving it to a friend.

The best reason to "dump" a cat on me: I had a great female grey tuxedo cat with big fat cheeks. I used to pinch her cheekies. She hated it. One day I told her "if you'd bring me a kitten I will never pinch your cheekies again. That night (honest to heaven), I opened the back door to call in the cats and there was the cutest long haired tabby kitten sitting dead center on the top step. Up on the railing sat my cat watching. I never pinched her cheekies again.
  • Sometimes I think people should be required to interview and be evaluated before they can have a pet . . . then again, I could probably say the same thing about people having children . . . .
  • Wow! The only pet those people should have is a pet rock...maybe.
