Thanks all! The process has been relatively simple, except they wouldn't eat. Pat even gave me two new bags of food that he feeds them, but they only nibble at it, not eating a meal. They would take treats and I was careful not to give too many. Having had dogs all my life, I know this is a reaction to their world being upset and since both are a little chunky, I wasn't worried. They were eating something anyway.
This morning they acted like they wanted to eat, so I put fresh food out for them. They sniffed and walked off. Hmmmmm. I noticed when we picked up the dogs that Pat had a metal dog bowl for their water. Me thinks. . . maybe they don't like the fancy, expensive, non-spill dog bowls. So I dug out the metal dog bowls I used for Bailey and Neal. This time I opened the other bag of food and put it down. That seemed to do the trick. Whouldda' thunk? They didn't eat it all, but enough. Pat didn't know how much they eat because he free fed. But they did eat a meal!
So happy.
