I shouldn't be funny during a sad time, but if you think about it, our pets often spend more time with us than almost anyone, spouses included? And they don't ask to borrow money and they don't brag or complain or want to use the car. Most times, they're a true pleasure to be around - and they treat us like we're the center of their universe. They love unconditionally. Heck YES it rips a giant hole in our hearts when they leave.
This is a very good point. When you think of how much we need to overlook and/or forgive of our human counterparts, even those related by blood, the loyalty, adoration and modest needs of a beloved pet can't even compare. The price we pay when we have to let them go is worth it, although sometimes it seems too much to bear. To have missed knowing that whole little life force would have been an immense loss.
