Maybe I am doing it wrong

My cat ( she had her first birthday, no longer a kitten) is a picky eater. I have tried several brands of dry food and she will nibble some but turns her nose up most of the time.

I give her a small can of moist food and depending on her mood eats a little or just sniffs it and walks away.

I leave her food out and she does eat some at night but not much. Would it be better to just put the food away and feed her small portions?

She seems healthy and likes her treats but regular food not so much.
Any ideas?

  • The cat is playing you....
Set it down. Give her an hour to eat. Pick it up. Set it down an hour or so later. No treats, no people food. She will eventually eat as others have said.
  • +1 on just putting the dry food out. They will not starve, mine sometimes just eats 2or 3 pieces at a time. Unless I'm away for more than 12 hours, he doesn't even touch his food.

  • CAT will not starve itself. Put out food leave it there if cat is hungry it will either eat or hunt.
  • forgot to mention. maybe too many treats... my cat begs for treats all the time.
  • You really don't want a FAT cat. put some dry food out and she will eat when hungry.
