Devil's advocate here.
We have 2 cats, never on leashes, and we've been in a few RV parks where it's pretty easy to get away with letting them out. No, we don't let them out alone, not around dogs, and we watch them closely.
Much to our surprise they do not wander off too far. If they try we call them or go get them. They seem to mind just fine. They hate leashes. Oh, and they're never out after dark. As said, they make a good snack for all kinds of predators.
I'm only talking about 2. 5? Don't know, that might be a lot to handle.
