The 2 year old sleeps at the foot of the bed on the wifes side.
The Rott sleeps between us, and MUST have his own pillow.
Special K-9 training has been mentioned several times in this thread. What does that mean? I would think ANY training that you give a dog could be considered "special K-9 training". Did training his pit bulls to kill other dogs constitute Michael Vick giving his dogs "special K-9 training"? In my opinion, unless the dog is specifically trained to be an actual service dog any other training would be irrelevant as to whether or not it should be allowed in a public setting where dogs are not normally allowed. And personally, I wouldn't feel any better if I was attacked a dog that had never, ever done anything like that before and is nothing but a kind and gentle dog, which is generally what the people who own the dog that attacked the neighbor's child say.
I don't know what "special K-9 training" is either. Can they ride unicycle, or run agility courses? It means nothing. And an Alpha pack leader would never allow a subordinate to sleep between him/her and their mate. You're asking for trouble owning powerful dogs with incorrect information.
