Temperamentally well balanced dogs don't go from loving pet to killer without warning.
As a general statement I agree, but the situation always has to be taken into account when a dog bites.
For example, give me the most mild, laid back, submissive dog and put it in a room, alone, with a 5 year child. Eventually the dog will bite the child.
Why? Because a five year old will explore and often physically poke a dog in the exploration mode. It is what five year old kids do. Eventually, the dog will bite out of self defense. Seen it happen many times.
NEVER leave a young child alone with a dog. Never.
Please don't bother responding with the exceptions, I know there are some, but this is a general statement of what will happen most of the time, not always.
