You do realize that prior to the big melamine recall Fromm's canned foods were made in China? Supposedly they switched all their processing to the U.S. after that, but the fact that they once believed it was okay to manufacture in China makes me somewhat leery of them.
  • With all the FDA snafus going on, I have to wonder if the field agents aren't cleaning their equipment properly after each test. Here's why I think that:
We made this decision in part due to a single positive Salmonella test by the FDA on product manufactured April 3. Normally, this would have resulted in retrieval of product manufactured over just a few days. However, we are taking the additional precautionary measure to recall all products in the marketplace. Our first priority is the wellbeing of the pets we serve.

A single test. Hmmmm. Still better safe than sorry.

We were using it for our new-to-us Morkie. I Googled "which dog food never recalled" and came up with Fromm. Family owned forever, test every batch BEFORE SHIPPING IT. Not for nutin, but the little girl absolutely LOVES it. Used to nibble on the Nutro but gobbles the Fromm down.

Fromm has always been number one on my list of dog foods. I'm from Wisconsin where this food is made and used their can dog food way back in the 70's! They were the first premium dog food company to produce a can food that was REAL food.

They use an outside company on a daily basis to additionally test their food and have quite a few other testing procedures in place that in all my research the other companies do not even come close in testing procedures. As we all found out after reading the FDA reports on what they found at Diamond, whose OWN employees did not follow 99.99% of their own testing procedures.

IMHO, JMHO Fromm's use of 100% USDA inspected ingredients and produced in a USDA plant is what puts them on top in book and their extensive testing procedures keeps them there. Just "MY personal" opinion.:C
