Night time restlessness/anxiety is common in older dogs. It can be due to vision issues, but it can also be due to cognitive decline and probably lots of other things. As I said earlier, a 3 mg. melatonin along with his supper has helped my older Brittany tremendously at night. It's one of those can't hurt, might help things. Melatonin is also a commonly used treatment for thunderstorm phobia in dogs, and likely helps with anxiety overall.
