Today Lassie had a stroke and after discussing with the vet I decided it was time to let go. Lassie would have been 16 July 1st.I got Lassie as a rescue from the Denton TX human society. She come from a puppy mill and they were done with her. Despite having a rough start I would like to think I provided her a good life. She had the nickname (the librarian) for not allowing other Collies to play or be noisy. She was also the watch dog, she did not care for strangers in the yard. Lassie had issues with arthritis for a couple of years as well.I know she was a old dog but it's still hard after all these years.God speed Lassie.

You did the right thing by her. So sorry for your loss, they are family.

So sorry for the loss of your sweet Lassie. It sounds like she was one special pup. You gave her a wonderful life after her years in the horrific puppy mill....and she knew how much she was loved. Keep the wonderful memories of her close to your heart and she will always be with you.

Adding my sympathy. It's so hard to do but you made the only possible choice. Sixteen years is amazing and a tribute to the loving home you provided.

I'm so sorry. It's always hard to let them go especially when you know you're doing the right thing. Lassie had a great life and a wonderful owner, and I'm sure you have wonderful memories of her. Sending thoughts of sympathy, and peace.

It sounds like Lassie had the best possible life a dog could have. Living to age 16 is something most dogs don't do. Only with your love and wonderful care was she able to last that long. So sorry for your loss. But I think you did the right thing. That final act of love , i.e., ending their suffering, is the hardest for pet owners. But I'm sure Lassie was thankful you were there to end the pain for her.
