We had our rescue mutt (cattle dog/lab) about one month before we took (fingers crossed) with her for two month in the desert southwest. She was great (about 1.5 years then). We made sure that we exercised her as best as we could while we were commuting out west from NY (3 days)...dog parks, walmart greenspaces with long line and a ball, etc. Toys, bed, assorted leashes, flea stuff, training treats, food, medicines for just in case, spare bed cover. She has been on a few trips now and always good. She is put in our rv ("the box) shaken around (driving) and poof she has new turf to sniff...must be how it is to her eyes!
