We always check the local area if there is a possibility for that kind of severe weather. Many campgrounds will not allow you to bring pets in the shelter with you. The local areas we've visited usually have one or two places you can go to with your pet(s). We've had to do this several times especially in Florida, Missouri and Oklahoma and the campgrounds were of no help. Two exceptions were in Texas and Mississippi (the one in MS is now closed).
