Pet Sitting

Thanks. I've thought of using dogvacay.com while camping. I haven't yet, but most of the sitters have reviews (of course, be careful of the reviews--some may be bogus).

I think this would be a great business opportunity for someone. Definitely, it's a new open market and a service I'm sure lots of people would use. The problem would be to connect your availability to pet sit with a comparable campground / RV park that wouldn't take the idea and give the job to relatives!

For those on the other end, (the consumer), what a great service to have available for your use. I know we would probably use it. Our dog owns us and our lives revolve around everything the dog can do or where he can go. Like over-demanding children ... sometimes a break would be nice!

So, more and more RV parks are allowing dogs to be left alone in the RV?
I thought they frowned on that because of the barking and disturbing other campers.
I was not aware of the service, thanks.

Would it have worked better if the dog owner took the dog to the pet sitter, instead of the pet sitter coming to the the dog? Basically, it would be a mobile kennel on wheels, except the pets wouldn't be caged, or if they were, it would be set up like dog runs.??? I know, the campground would have to sacrifice some real-estate for such an endeavor.

We don't do motels very often, but the few times we have, we always look for a pet-friendly motel. My wife even has an app on her phone called, "pet friendly motels". Now, if a campground advertised "pet friendly campground - with available kennel or pet sitting service", and if you had a pet, which campground would you more likely choose to go to?

The KOA on the West side of Glacier does have a local person come to the park and they take your dog off to there facility. The KOA on the East side has employees come to your RV. We stayed on the East side.

In eight years of RV'ing we've encountered only one campground that, when called and asked directly, said it wasn't okay to leave well behaved dogs alone inside our RV. Only one. As well as I can tell that "rule" is only in place in case it's needed.

Cherry Hill Campground outside of DC used to offer this service.. We used it a few years back and thought it was great.. I am not sure they still offer it?

Yup. Next door at her home or in rv service available. G' Daughter is a very good pet handler.
We recommend the owner bring the pet to the yard to show Fido you want her to be there with someone else.
Provide proof of personal liability ins., same as you must do at a commercial kennel.
