Pets death while traveling?

Our Toller is almost 15 years old and has had two episodes of Canine Vestibular Syndrome. She is doing "ok" but not great. We are leaving in two weeks for a long trip and are very concerned about her. As much as we hate to think about it, what do you do when a pet dies when you are traveling? lizzie

  • We would (will) do the same as we do at home, have her cremated and take the ashes home for burial.

My sister had her dog pass away on a trip and they had the dog cremated. Then was able to bring the ashes home with them...

  • Is the dog going along with you, or staying home? If at home, make sure whoever is caring for the animal knows clearly what you want done, should he pass away while you're on the road, and make sure your local vet is onboard as well. If while away, you may want to do a search on vets in various places you plan to be enroute, just in case. Good luck! Hope Toller gets through the trip in good shape!
