- The pups are adorable. Congrats to BJ for being such a great mother!
Dale - BCSnobExplorerSamantha,
Our girls had reached the age when it was breed now or lose our line.
Our first litter was a Val x Starr (Renee's first Border Collie now passed on) which produced Rae & Gyp (the other pups were lost during a c-section).
Val was owned by our mentor and was the son of International Champion Johnny Wilson's Spot; Johnny Wilson came over here to judge one year and after watching Val run told our mentor Val was one of the best pups off Spot he had seen.
My wife retired Rae (at about 8) with a up and coming handler (who is also a vet) so Rae could move down a class (smaller courses); our friend worked her (learning from her) for several more years moved her back up to the top class and then retired her for the second time after a big win. Gyp & Rae are now 13.
I got Jody from Val's next litter and a friend got Brook; the owner of Brook is buying Clayton. This friend started with herding about the same time we did and under the same mentor.
Val's last litter was with my Peg and it produced our BJ & Nell; this was Val's best litter in terms of how good and how many of the pups are good working dogs. We really wanted to keep this line since we've done well with these dogs.
Grandma Peg is now 11 but looks great; I will keep running her until she can no longer look her best. I want to retire her from competition looking great. She will continue to work sheep at home after retirement from competition. I suspect I'll retire her at the end of this year or next. - cheleExplorerAdorable! Almost makes me wish I could get one to go with Patches. Almost. :)
- NCWriterExplorerLooked at them three times, can't decide which one I'd choose. Bundles of fun, one and all!
- Little_KopitExplorerThank you so much for these pics.
:B - corgi-travelerExplorerThey look great! Not knowing their personalities and just having to go off expression, my fave is Clayton.
So with the two boys you are keeping, is an older dog about to retire? - CroweExplorerMark, they are BEAUTIFUL! Love the names. Have to say furry little guy Joe is my favorite, too.
- Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IIIt must be heartwarming to know they are going to loving and active homes!!!
- BCSnobExplorerWe had already decided if the buyers of Joe had backed out he was staying. They didn't back out and he will be going to a great home. The buyers bought a dog from me that I raised and trained, Jody, when it became obvious to me that I was putting too much pressure on her. She got to go be their #1 dog until she recently died from cancer. Joe will spend days in the office of their auto parts store and will eventually learn herding.
- magnusfideExplorer IIPuppy pics are happy pics. Thanks for sharing.
