Tried doing a search "putting pet dog down" and no results.
Our 17 year old mixed lab still enjoys getting up in the morning and
going on walks (have to be short) and then sleeps all day. She has control of her bathroom functions. We thought the time was when she no longer has control over her body and no longer enjoys life. However in the last month 2 friends have asked the question, when are you going to put her down? Her Vet says you'll know when it is time. Asked him to be a little bit more specific. His answer was "you'll know"
Question: So when do you put down a dog? Any guidelines?
It is a cliché. But it IS also very true.
NO ONE knows or loves your dog as well as you do, the day comes when they look at you and you just instinctively know.
As far as your friends repeatedly asking when you are going to put her down? If it were me I'd be looking for new friends. Just saying.
Enjoy the time with her. Sounds to me like she's in pretty good shape and still enjoying her time 'with you'. :C
