Razz debut agility run

It was only a NADAC Intro course, but she showed some good things. (The trial was in Chesapeake, VA, 4/16/16).

  • Biggest difference between "Purebred" dogs and "rescue" dogs is the price, origin, and owners pride. Surprising to most is that AKC registration ONLY indicates the dogs owner and the ancestry, and has NOTHING to do with the dog's quality, soundness, or suitability. Careful and selective breeding are supposed to produce healthier, quality dogs that more closely conform to the recognized, and/or defined qualities of the breed. In the past, this has mostly been true, but price-only produces no guarantees.

For a companion and pet, there is a never-ending supply of healthy, sound, and loving pets available either free, or at a low cost to offset the expense of caring for them. Many of these are excellent dogs, and offer love and affections to those who truly return that affection.
  • The dog gets the fun of playing with their loved pet, and watching them run their Bu--s off trying to keep up with them. Agility replaced Obedience as a fun time for both dogs and their pets, but competition and business ruined that, made it lots more work than fun. Most of Agility is still lots of fun, but just like always before, competition and business are beginning to creep in to ruin that also.
  • Please don't take this wrong because it is really not my intent. My wife watches Westminster every year and I don't get that either. What does the dog get out of those shows and the agility contests? It seems like learning a few simple commands and words is important but then let a dog be a dog. I've never intentionally owned a full breed dog. Every dog I've ever had was a rescue, including a (according to the vet) purebred Border Collie. It seems that it's more for the owners than the dog. Please, serious answers only since I really don't get this. Thanks
