Reglan for dogs
How long can a dog stay on Reglan? My sheltie was prescribed this for vomiting - 1/2 10mg tablet 3x a day, since last Monday for a vomiting episode he had when we came back from a trip. He did not vomit bile this time but his undigested breakfast and foam. I did not start the Pepcid as I had been directed to until after this episode, and so far so good - no vomiting. He's also on an antibiotic until tomorrow. However, I read on the Internet that a dog should not be on Reglan too long because of the side effects. I have enough Reglan for another week, and then we're supposed to see how he does without it. Andy has liver issues, and I don't want to make them worse. His liver values checked out similar to what they were in March with not too much change, and my vet said the disease had not progressed to the point where he was concerned. Andy will be monitored, but I am still concerned he may be overmedicated if he is kept on this medicine indefinitely. Your thoughts, please, Dr. Doug. It's always good to get a second opinion.
Thanks!
