RIP: What dogs teach us

Dogs Teach Us

Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog; it merely expands the heart. If you have loved many dogs, your heart is very big.

    What a beautiful thought! (although that last lesson is so painful)

    The best thing I ever read (paraphrasing) is that "every time you love a dog, you give it a piece of your heart; and it gives you a piece of theirs. If you are lucky, by the time you reach the Pearly Gates, you have a 100% Canine Heart (and that's a very good thing!)"

    My sympathies for the loss of your pet....
