Thank you for sharing your experience. After doing some research on go pet friendly site, I think we are heading up to Acadia! I am beyond excited with our new found info of all the great things we can do with our pup! Wish I would have taken this trip before! I was just worried about how we could still sight see with her, but now I feel really confident that we can have a great trip. We even found out that we can take trains into Boston on the off peak times with our pooch...how cool is that????

Most National parks have more dog restrictions. If our dog can't go, we don't. We will leave her in the camper for a couple hours. She is a Golden Retriever and just sleeps, doesn't bark. The DH and I will often take turns at attractions one of us sitting with dog.
Acadia NP and the island is very dog friendly.
Dogs are allowed on about a mile of the south rim trail at the Grand Canyon. Also in parking lots and scenic pullouts in Utah parks. Albuquerque is dog friendly.
