I leave my dog in the RV as long as necessary 5-6 hours or more is not an issue.We treat the RV just like being at home and so does the dog.
We used to leave our two Springers as well. Size is not really relevant as long as the dog gets adequate exercise and isn't locked up day in and day out.
he's been really good so far, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get any trouble from the campgrounds for leaving him for a couple of hours.
I'd check for the cg's policy. Some are no dogs left unattended period. Chances are if he's quiet no one will say anything, but you do get the exceptions. If you do choose to leave him unattended in a cg that doesn't allow for it and you get squealed on just be prepared to accept any consequences such as being asked to leave.
