Our 17 year old 'jack russell mix' had a stroke. Or vestibular disease. Luckily, when it happened, we went to the right vet. He said, "Without a $1000 worth of tests, I can't tell you what happened. I would need to keep her a couple of days at $100 a day. And then, she might die, she might not. Or, you can take her home, keep her comfortable. And then, she might live, she might die. The tests will not affect the outcome. Here is a steroid shot. Give her a baby aspirin now and then."
We took her home and, a year and a half later, she is still running around.
